About Us

The Schoharie County Soil and Water Conservation District was formed in 1940. The District serves the entire County. While originally formed as a response to the Great Dust Bowl, Soil and Water Conservation Districts from across the United States have evolved to assist their cooperators in many different ways.

Some of the programs the Schoharie County Soil and Water Conservation District are currently involved in are:

Agricultural Environmental Management (AEM)

Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO)

Nutrient Management Planning

Streambank stabilization and mitigation

Capital Region Envirothon

Tree and Shrub Sale

 

Driving Directions

 

The Schoharie County Soil and Water Conservation District is located conveniently in the Extension Center on South Grand Street in Cobleskill.

For those who are familiar with Cobleskill, the Extension Center is across the street from the Cobleskill Fairgrounds. We are in Room 11

To reach the District from the East:

-Take I-88 to Exit 22.

-Take a left at the end of the exit ramp.

-Go under I-88, approximately 200 yards take a right onto County Route 1 (Mineral Springs Road)

-Follow Mineral Springs Road for about 3 ½ miles.

-On the right there will be a large industrial building.

-Take a right after the industrial building onto South Grand Street.

-Follow South Grand Street until you cross a bridge.

- We are located just past the little league diamond on the left across from the fairgrounds

Directions from the West:

-Take I-88 to Exit 21

-Take a Left off of the exit ramp.

-Go about 200 yards to a traffic light, Take a right at the traffic light.

-You are now on State route 7 follow route 7 for about 3 miles you will pass SUNY Cobleskill

-You will come to a large intersection with a traffic light there is a Mobile station on the left and a small park on your right. Take a right at the traffic light onto South Grand Street.

-Follow South Grand Street under the railroad bridge we’re located about ¼ mile on the right next the baseball diamond across from the fair grounds in the Extension Center.

Directions from the North:

-Take State Route 145 off of route 20

-Follow route 145 South approximately 7 miles into the village of Cobleskill

-You will come to a large intersection with a traffic light there is a Mobile station on the right and the Park Theater ahead of you.

-Go straight through the intersection; you are now on South Grand Street.

-Follow South Grand Street under a railroad bridge we’re located about ¼ mile on the right next the baseball diamond across from the fair grounds in the Extension Center.

Directions from the South:

-Take State Route 145 North through the Village of Middleburgh.

-Stay on route 145 for approximately 8 miles from Middleburgh.

-Take a left onto County Route 1 (Mineral Springs Road).

-Follow Mineral Springs Road for approximately 3 ½ miles.

-On the right there will be a large industrial building.

-Take a right after the industrial building onto South Grand Street.

-Follow South Grand Street until you cross a bridge.

-We are located next to the baseball diamond across from the fairgrounds in the Extension Center.
